Paul has dreamt of doing this walk for 17 years!
Now, at 67yrs old...he's doing just that!
The ancient route passes through England, France, Switzerland and Italy - covering around 1900 kilometres in distance. The complete Via Francigena does commence in Canterbury, England, then across the Channel to Calais and on to Rome. For many reasons, not many walk the complete route.
Paul's journey commenced in Besancon, France on 15th June 2016 and - God willing - will finish in Rome, Italy about 30th August 2016 after a 10 day detour by bus at the end of July to Kraków, Poland for World Youth Day.
Information regarding The Missionaries of the Poor can be found on Google etc. Paul spent some time with them in the Philippines a few years ago and witnessed the service and care they deliver to the destitute and sick in those places. "When I was hungry you gave me something to eat ---". Matthew. 25; 31-46
Overcoming such a challenge not only instills a deep sense of accomplishment, it also triggers a renewed appreciation for resources that we so often take for granted.
Paul is aiming to raise money so 100% of the funds donated can go to a charity that's close to his heart : Missionaries Of The Poor.
We hope you can help towards reaching his fundraising target! Thank you.
