In 1972 Elvin played and recorded at the world famous Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach, CA. Dave Liebman and Steve Grossman played Saxes and Gene Perla played bass along with Elvin on drums. It became an iconic recording in Jazz.
I attended the "Elvin Live at the Lighthouse" every night for 2 weeks and was greatly influenced and by the experience. I decided to do a recording with a similar band to express the inspiration.
We did the recording on Aug. 13, 2017, also live at the Lighthouse, with Doug Webb (ts), Jeff Elwood (ts, ss), Glen Cashman (ts), Chris Colangelo (b), and myself, Paul Kreibich (d). The session went very well and I'm raising funds to complete the project. These days even with a record label involved, the artists have to pay for much of the costs of recording, manufacturing and promotion themselves. Thats why I'm asking music fans, friends, and family to help out in the release of this tribute to an important musical legend.
The funds raised will be used for mastering, artwork, manufacturing, and radio, internet, and press promotion. The tracking is finished and there is video to be edited as well Your support would be greatly appreciated in completing the project. It represents the culmination of my musical career at this time and I want to be able to share it with the jazz community. I would be very grateful if you decided to become involved.
Any donations of $25 or more will receive a copy of the CD. Check the updates for more great premiums!
