Pauline Alpin (Mumma P)
Donation protected
As part of Mum’s Celebration of Life, we want to honour her generous spirit and the causes she held dear by continuing to support the charities she chose in her will. During her lifetime, she actively fundraised for a number of charities, including Cancer Research UK and Ovacome. Since her passing, and thanks to your generous donations over the past nine months, we have already made contributions in her name to The Big C and the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Charity.
A new garden area has been planted at Priscilla Bacon Lodge, next to the pavilion, using funds from that donation — a space we like to think of as the ‘Mumma P Garden’. Please feel free to visit if you would like to. Each of the charities we've supported so far played a role in helping her and others through their cancer journeys.
There were a number of additional charities listed in her will that were close to her heart, which we would now like to support. We're inviting anyone who wishes to contribute to a collective fund, which will be divided between the following:
- The Royal Marsden, where we hope to sponsor Mum’s birthday, 7th January, through their “Sponsor a Day ” programme.
- Penny Brohn UK, where we would like to "Dedicate a Leaf " in her memory on the Tree of Life at their National Centre.
- Something to Look Forward To, a charity providing uplifting experiences and meals out for those affected by cancer and cancer poverty, through their "#DonateSomePlates" campaign.
- Sarcoma UK, which will receive any surplus funds to continue vital research and awareness for the rare cancer Mum faced with such courage. More information on Sarcoma can be found here .
As many of you know, Mum was a keen artist and crafter. She loved attending Sip and Paint nights, and we've digitised a selection of her artwork. These will be available to purchase as postcards on the day. If you'd like an A4 print of any design, just let us know. All proceeds from the sale of postcards and prints will go into the fundraising fund, helping us reach — and hopefully exceed — our targets.
We know Mum would be proud to see her legacy of kindness and care live on through support for these important causes. Thank you for helping us honour her in this way.
With love,
John & Emma xx
