Paula's half marathon challenge
Donation protected
During the summer I made up my mind that I wanted to achieve something this year. I wanted to be able to remember 2020 for something other than covid-19. My husband suggested a half marathon, telling me I was able for it though the longest distance I had done up to that point was 10k last summer. So I signed up to the Clontarf Half Marathon, due to be held Nov 21st 2020, not really sure if I was going to follow through.
I never thought when I signed up in July that the race wouldn't go ahead but it is yet another thing to have fallen victim to the Covid-19 pandemic that we have all found ourselves in. So on 21st Nov I plan to run my virtual half marathon which basically means running the 21k but not in a race setting.
Lately, I've been thinking that I might need some extra motivation to get me through that long run. So I've set myself a target of raising 500 euro. It's for my nephew Jack's new school in Limerick - Catherine McAuley School, a school for children with special needs. I contacted the principal and he informed me that they are hoping to buy 3 Clevertouch interactive boards in next few weeks, at a cost of 2500 euro each! They really think they will have a great impact on their students education.
For those of you who know me, you'll know that Jack and his brother Tiernan have had a very difficult few years and they, and all my family, will be in my thoughts as I pound the road on Sat 21st. Please support them and this great cause
