My older sister, Paula, needs your help! She is an energetic lady that loves life. As a girl, she was diagnosed with epilepsy and Down syndrome.
As immigrants, my parents have always tried to give us all the opportunities available to us. My sister’s condition has required multiple surgeries, doctor visits, and daily medication. Even with health insurance coverage, money has always been tight.
For many years, my sister has been fortunate enough to attend a 5-day summer program paid for by San Andreas Regional Center. Via Services, a non-profit organization, has been a champion for people with disabilities by giving them an opportunity to attend a summer camp program and in turn, empowering their strengths as able citizens of our community. Every summer, my sister would return from camp and would not stop talking about everything she accomplished with her program leaders and friends. Unfortunately with the recent budget cuts, they are no longer able to front the money for my sister’s annual experience.
This is where YOU come in! As a new primary school educator, I’m not exactly bringing in millions of dollars. With student loan repayments and cost of living continuously rising, I am finding it more difficult to pay for my sister’s experience by myself. Any little contribution would help and be greatly appreciated.
My goal is to raise $1300 to cover nursing, education/respite fun, 3 meals a day, all snacks, all scheduled program activities, field trips and transportation. I am hoping to sign her up for the 5-day Scooby-Doo program this summer since she is obsessed with Velma and the rest of the gang!

THANK YOU in advance for your generosity and empathy.
