Paula Nickel's "Accessible House" Fund
Donation protected
If anyone knows Paula Nickel, you know what kind and giving heart she has. She was always going, doing and giving while enjoying life. Unfortunately, in February, a stroke took a significant toll on her and her body. She is currently in a wheelchair with no use on the right side of her body. Her current challenges and goals include outpatient therapy and learning to be more independent again. While she has had to have 24 care, several other things are still needed for her continued improvement. Having her floors redone in her home and her master shower bathroom remodeled to become handicap accessible are the two greatest needs at this time. These improvements will allow her to become a little more self-efficient. Currently the master bathroom is inaccessible to her being in a wheelchair. Her chair just does not fit. She has not been able to shower or bathe in her own home since February when the stroke occurred. These are not cosmetic changes. These are necessary changes for her to live "her new normal". If you know Paula, her independence was one of her greatest strengths before this setback. So, we all feel that certain things, such as this, will enable her to regain independence as she works through her outpatient therapy. If you can find it in your heart to help at all, we would appreciate any contribution you can make. Many people have asked what they can do, and the family feels this is the most immediate need. We appreciate your consideration, generosity and prayers.
