Paula Hoyt cancer journey by Alison Johnson
My name is Alison Johnson and many of you know Paula Hoyt is my dearest friend who is battling stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma cancer which is not responding to chemo and continues to grow. She was originally diagnosed in Nov 2019 and started chemo Xmas eve 2019 and was told with 6 months of ABVD Chemo she’d be cancer free in 6 months. Unfortunately that hasn’t happened and her cancer continues to grow despite 6 different chemo regimens.
the drs are saying that if she doesn’t get a donor stem cell transplant she will die. In order to get stem cell transplant, she is once again getting a very aggressive chemo regimen and her drs will be testing family and friends to see if they are a match for her to get the transplant.
Unfortunately none of this can be done at her local cancer center. She is now under the care of the amazing oncologists at Dana Farber cancer institute in Boston and Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in NY in hopesof receiving the transplant as well as undergoing clinical trials.
All of this involves many trips to the 2 different hospitals, she has expenses for gas, travel, as well as hotel accommodations since insurance doesn’t cover inpatient at memorial Sloan Kettering.
Needless to say this has impacted her finances greatly since she also has not been ableto work during all of this. The chemo is definitely taking its toll on her body.
I’m hoping through the goodness of your heart and all of your desires for her to get well, that some of you may be willing to donate money to this go fund me page to help her offset some of these costs. She has applied for grants but unfortunately due to Covid, most organizations didn’t have ability to fundraise. Any amount will be greatly appreciated and of course continued prayers from all of you would be amazing
