On Friday, April 7 our family suffered a sudden and tremendous loss. My brother-in-law retired Marine Corps SSgt Sergio Pineda lost his battle with leukemia. Sergio was diagnosed in July 2012 while training for his second deployment to the Middle East. Over the last 5 years, despite the chemotherapy, extended hospital stays, and setbacks he experienced he continued to stay positive about his life. Unfortunately, Sergio was medically retired from the Marine Corps but like every Faithful Marine he continued to live his life for his family. The light of his life was his family, his wife Paula and daughters Alison (age 9) and Rebecca (age 7). His sickness allowed him to spend extra time with his daughters building those special memories and moments that they will cherish forever.
The last several months Sergio's health had been improving greatly and we were looking forward to many years to come when sickness took him from us unexpectedly. Unsurprisingly our family is in shock and facing decisions and situations we were not expecting. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God Bless you all.
