I hope this note finds everyone well. I am writing about our Paula. As everyone is well aware, Paula gave up volumes of hours each summer to make our experience at TGC great. This kept her away from spending time with her beautiful children. And she really did make it a better place.
I will give everyone some clarity of the current situation and why this fund has been established.
TGC does not have short term disability (the club is addressing this for future), and she has gone on EI (which is low) and is about to run out. Long term disability is a way off. In the meantime she has accumulated some debt and needs to spend more to continue treatment and a path to recovery.
She has stage 4 duodenum cancer which is in the pancreas as well. She is receiving immunotherapy as treatments for both cancers. Too complicate it further she is diagnosed with Lynch Syndrome PMS2 which testing and treatments are not covered by OHIP and are done through the USA.
As of this am, she has been accepted to start a rehab and survivorship program at Princess Margaret Hospital to try and gain strength and endurance. Due to the major bypass surgery she had in June the healing is a very slow process and has no muscle tone or stamina.
She will find out the cost of this shortly, or possibly at the first treatment.
I ask you to syndicate to others you feel will be sympathetic to this situation and help contribute. Many of you have already committed to helping, which she is grateful for.
with a heavy heart,
