Raising awareness of ILD in memory of Paul Maguire

My daddy, Paul Magure, was diagnosed with ILD (interstitial lung disease) in August 2017.

Daddy lost his fight to this horrible disease. We had to spend 4 days watching daddy deteriorate to the point he was unable to talk or even have a drink of water and there was nothing anyone could do about it, a lung transplant was all he needed!! We as a family would like to continue to raise money for Antrim area hospital towards research and awareness and to urge people to please please become organ donors, as if there was more donors then lung transplants would be done sooner and more frequent meaning people with lung disease would all be treated equally and given the same fighting chance!

(Daddy has fibrosis of the lungs which causes scarring, resulting in lung capacity getting less and less each time new scarring occurs, currently Paul is requiring full time, 24 hour oxygen to survive. He is unable to walk more than 2 steps without a severe drop in his oxygen levels even with the oxygen therapy. He has to use a mobility scooter at home just to enable him to get to the bathroom...this isn't fair for a 58 year old man....
But unfortunately his illness has detoriated to a point the specialist consultants have said he has 3 months to a year left to live!!!....they will do some tests for eligibility for lung transplant but they dont come across very hopeful due to my daddys other health conditions, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, they are more or less saying a healthier patient is more worthy of the expense of a lung transplant.
We, as a family, want second opinions, we are willing to go private to ensure daddy gets all the help and medical needs he requires. He is only 58, he has a loving wife, 3 daughters and partners who need him and love him dearly and grandkids who think the absolute world of their granda. There is so much to fight for, he should have many many more years to make memories with his family and live the life he truly deserves.
The money raised will go towards hoping to find help through private healthcare, there is specialist centres who have more awareness of this disease, there is also medication available in America to slow the disease down! A lung transplant costs over £400,000, Paul needs a double lung transplant, If the NHS do not want to waste the funds for lung transplant on a patient because they dont think they would be eligible then we want to fight them and fund it through peoples help and prove them wrong. How do they know my dad wont make it through a transplant due to diabetes if they have never tried???
All money raised will be used to fund my daddy, Paul Maguires medical Bill's to get second opinions from more experienced centres and a lung transplant as a private patient, if anything occurs and this unfortunately is not possible, all monies raised will be donated to Antrim Area Hospitals Pulmonary Fibrosis group used for research.
Everyone deserves the right to live.... too many people are dying through our health care system!!)
