Thanks to the private donations and the GoFundMe not only were we able to meet our goal but we exceeded it. The family hand the financial means to cover Paul's funeral expenses. All funds above the goal have been given to his wife Leoniza to help with expenses and in preparation for the arrival of their baby girl Lexie due in April.
With Paul's passing his wife Leoniza lost her only source of income as well as her health insurance. As many of us know covering general living expenses with no income is hard, now add the expense of having a baby...even more challenging.
Leoniza came to the United States from the Philippines in April 2019 to marry Paul and start their life together. The married in May 2019 and shortly after discovered that they are expecting. Paul was especially excited not only to become a dad again (he has Adam and Zackary Wolcott, ages 26 and 17 respectively) but he was finally getting a daughter. Paul and Leoniza filed her immigration paperwork to start the greencard process and she is meeting with immigration in March 2020 to finalize the process. Her goal is to remain in the United States as she and Paul had planned.
In order to improve her financial situation, Leoniza has attempted to apply for Paul's social security benefits and has been told she will not be able to do so but the baby can apply once she is born. She is grateful to have that income but as we know that isn't very much. Leoniza has also applied for TennCare but has been told that her immigration status may effect her approval. She is looking at other ways to ensure that baby Lexie is born healthy but this takes time.
The family is hoping that that everyone will continue to share this GoFundMe campaign to provide additional financial assistance to Leoniza and the baby.
We thank you all for your donations, kind words of support, and all the love we have received. It has kept us strong knowing that Paul's family has such a wonderful support system. Paul helped so many people and wanted to take care of his family. He would be so happy to see everyone who has returned the favor and helped his family during such a difficult time.
