Trucker risks life to avoid loaded School Bus.

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, Paul Wiggins was driving his 18-Wheeler, loaded with logs, at 7:20 in the morning. He entered a sudden fog bank and saw the road block by a stopped School Bus and stopped traffic.

Paul swerved to avoid a collision. He suddenly found himself facing a stopped school bus with its emergency lights flashing, as it was picking up children on their way to school, the day before Good Friday.

Paul unhesitatingly turned the steering wheel further and drove himself and his loaded semi off into the ditch. His truck rolled over and stopped when the cab came to rest against large trees, trapping Paul in the cab.

Paul’s actions that day prevented an unknown number of deaths and injuries. He could have plowed into the stopped traffic or he could have driven head on into the stopped school bus, most likely killing the bus driver and killing or injuring many or all of the innocent children on that bus.

As an independent truck driver in the timber industry, Paul Wiggins is left with no income and a (most likely) totaled log truck.

This Go Fund Me page will help Paul with his daily expenses, a down payment on a replacement Semi-Tractor to pull his log trailer, or possibly even a new Truck if enough funds are raised.

Who knows, maybe even word could reach Elon Musk and he could donate a Tesla Truck so Paul won’t have to pay the outrageous fuel bills. Putting one of the Tesla Trucks in the Log Woods would certainly find out how well built they are.

Regardless, let’s create our own Yell County Easter Miracle and help a man that was willing to sacrifice his life to save others.

Paul Wiggins, a Yell County man with “True Grit”.
