PAUL EDWARD SCHULTZ
(November 9, 1963 – October 20, 2022)

Passed away suddenly at home in Bethany, Ontario on October 20, 2022, at the age of 58.
Beloved husband of Trish(a) Bevan for 14 years. Cherished son of Barbara Schultz and the late Edward Schultz, and loving brother to Judy (Neal O’Donoghue) and Penny (Steve Sears). Paul was also loved and respected by his in-laws, Tom (Julia), Violet (David), Melissa (Joshua), Penny (Doug) and was an adoring uncle to many nieces and nephews, Chelsea (Money), Tessa (Josef), Liam (Lexi), Tynan, Jaiden, Ayla, Caia, Wyla, Wynnaura, Caleb, Isaac, Charlotte, and great niece Theodora. He will be greatly missed by his loveable dog Hilts.

Paul grew up in Kitchener-Waterloo and attended the K-W Bilingual School and Cameron Heights C.I. He graduated from the University of Waterloo, going on to earn his Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. In 1988 he began his career as a teacher at Courtice Secondary School where he remained until his retirement in January 2019. As a dedicated and passionate teacher, he shared his enthusiasm for History and English with countless students. He coached baseball and provided leadership within the local teachers’ federation (OSSTF D14) throughout his long career. He also took pride in cultivating many lasting friendships with his colleagues through golf, poker tournaments, fishing weekends, trips to Buffalo, or simply a visit around the firepit in his backyard. Paul was fortunate to have many true and loyal friends. If you were Paul's friend, you were his friend for life.

Paul’s most cherished role was as a caring and supportive family member. Whether hosting family dinners with Trish at home or at the beloved family cottage on the French River, Paul treasured time spent with loved ones. He especially loved his vacations with Trish to Greece, Anna Maria Island, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Hawaii, and to watch the Toronto Blue Jays in New York City and Cleveland.

Family members and friends will miss Paul’s razor-sharp wit and encyclopedic knowledge of history, movies, TV shows, and music. While Paul was an incredibly social person, he enjoyed the solitude of writing. He published two books of historical fiction while working full-time and began writing his third novel upon retirement. He spent countless hours enjoying his 1966 Thunderbird, and you could find him every Sunday watching NFL cheering on his beloved Minnesota Vikings.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, if desired donations may be made to Courtice Secondary School for a graduation award in his memory.
