Paul Richard Foote

Hi, my name is Marla Jaksch and I am organizing a GoFundMe to support the medical expenses of Paul Richard Foote, the husband of Angel David Nieves. The image below is of Richard and Angel (David) in 1994 when they first started dating. Yes, you've got that right, they've been together for 29 years (married for 5).

In July 2022, Richard was diagnosed with glioblastoma - a tumorous brain cancer - after he fell unconscious while walking their dog King. King, a Shiba Inu (a sight hound; great-nephew of Mitzy) did not run off when Richard fell in Cassidy Park. He stayed by Richard's side for over an hour, until Angel (David) found them after searching along Beacon Street for them from their apartment by Washington Square. Richard underwent surgery to remove the tumor, followed by six weeks of chemo and radiation therapies. He rang the bell at the hospital on September 29th. When a patient finishes treatment in the Nuro-oncology wing at Brigham and Womens, they get to hit a mini-giant gong, like the one on "The Gong Show!" Announcing another victorious completion of care!

Regrettably, malignant brain tumors tend to be fast-growing and it is hard to remove all of the cancerous cells during surgery and other therapies. Unfortunately, in mid-December, Richard was experiencing slight mobility issues and during a check-up, they found another tumor had developed, which required that Richard undergo additional surgery.

Although Richard began to recover from the second surgery, by mid-January he developed mobility issues and peripheral vision impairment in his left eye. He is now unable to walk or move much himself. His talking is extremely limited, a few words, often a faint whisper. Due to this, Angel has had to secure round-the-clock care to support Richard, as Richard wishes to be at home.

The expenses have piled up over the last seven months and they have gone through their life savings to provide the care Richard needs. These expenses include home health aides, medical supplies, transportation, medicines, treatments, tests, and other care.
