Help Us Place a Memorial Bench for Paul by the River Derwent

We are raising funds to place a memorial bench in memory of Paul, an 18-year-old from Birmingham who was sadly found in the River Derwent after going missing following a Derby match.

Over eight days, the community came together in a way none of us will ever forget. What started as just two of us searching quickly grew into hundreds of volunteers walking for miles, sharing posts, checking areas, and refusing to give up. Strangers stood shoulder to shoulder for a young lad they may never have even met.

Since Paul was found, many people have visited the riverside to leave flowers, pay their respects, and reflect. We would love to create a peaceful, permanent place there where people can sit, remember Paul, and take a moment by the water.

Derby City Council has confirmed this is possible, and we are now looking to raise the funds needed for the bench, plaque, and installation.

This bench will not only be a tribute to Paul, but also a reminder of the incredible unity, compassion, and community spirit shown during those heartbreaking days.
