Paul Ostopowicz and Family Support Fund

Hi, My Name is Kim Degner, I am the sister-in-law to Paul Ostopowicz and sister to Tina. On behalf of our family(Kim Degner Family, Tracy Miller Family, Dana Leake Family and parents Judy Smith & Russ and Vicky Smith), we are setting up this gofundme page in recent news of Paul's diagnosis with small cell lung cancer. This sudden diagnosis has turned their daily lives upside down. We are devastated by this news and want to give them as much support as possible. We know the days ahead will be a fight and we want Paul, Tina, Claire, Alex and Abby to know that we are there for them. These funds will help with medical bills, being off work, making medical adaptations to their home, gas, food etc. Please read Paul's story below, share this page and watch for updates. ** Paul's Story: After a couple of weeks of having weakness on one side of his body, Paul, 52, decided he needed to see his Doctor. They thought at first something was wrong with his leg, ruled out a stroke and had an MRI on Dec. 14th and found a large tumor and several small lesions in his brain. After further tests and a biopsy, it was determined he had Stage 4 Small Cell Lung Cancer that had spread to his liver and brain from his lungs. A whirlwind of appointments began to prepare for treatment. Radiation will begin on Jan. 2nd every day Monday-Friday for 2 weeks and then chemotherapy and immunotherapy for 3 months. Paul and Tina have not been working since this diagnosis. Tina is taking Paul to all of his appointments and treatments and trying to keep things as normal as possible for Claire, Alex and Abby driving them to practices and meets for swim and gymnastics. Tina states that what they need most are continued prayers - we can feel them! The outpouring of support in such a short amount of time is truly miraculous. Our family, friends from near and far, our church family, our school family and our co-workers are all so important to us and the love we feel from all of them is huge!
