Paul Jr Needs Your Help: Life-Saving Surgeries

Everyone knows Paul Jr and the battles that he has faced in the last 4 years due to his Hunter Syndrome a (Terminal Illness). He has experienced another set back this past year. Last year he developed a harder time breathing, walking and working out. After many tests, specialists and scoping his airway multiple times the pressure on his upper airway went from 35% to 70 % in 6 months. He was admitted to the hospital in order for insurance to authorize him to be on a ventilator at home. This gives him some relief but he still has a difficult time sleeping due to the compression on his airway. This led to more specialists out of town in Florida and then finally led us to Cincinnati Childrens Hospital. In October we went up for 1 week seeing specialists, testing and having his airway scoped once again. The family stated It was nerve racking walking in a conference room with 5 doctors waiting on you so they could give you the results.

They told the family that they found a second area of compression The new lower compression was worst than the upper one collapsing it at 80%. He has a short statue which is causing his organs to press on his airway. He will need 2 major surgeries. The first surgery is an aorta descending pexy which can take 5-8 hours depending on the difficulty. The next surgery is a Tracheopexy this will help his airway to become more stable. They stated he will probably will only have one surgery at a time. This surgery will save Paul jrs life.!

The family will have to stay in Cincinatti for 3-4 weeks as they are unable to stay at the Ronald McDonald house due to Pauls age. SURGERY is scheduled on FEBRUARY 10th! .

They are unsure when the 2nd surgery will be scheduled. The doctors require many recheck visits in Ohio with scoping his airway under anesthesia , some appointments they will have to drive and some they can fly back and forth.

• The family is asking for help with expenses which include hotel, gas, meals, when flying the family will need to rent a car for each visit as well. The father will be flying up on the weekends as he is the only one working in the family and the mother is home with Paul Jr.
