Donation protected
My name is Robyn and I am reaching out to friends of Paul, to support Cheryl and Paul’s family to give him the funeral he deserves, on Friday 9th May 2025.
Paul had lived on a disability pension since being medically retired from his position in Canberra City Parks, due to his Coronary-artery disease, and several other medical conditions.
Due to his high medical costs, he did not have many savings.
Paul was always a familiar and friendly face around the Tharwa district, having been in the area for over 30 years.
He had extensive horticultural skills and knowledge, having done a horticultural apprenticeship and a Biological Technicians Certificate, seeing him being appointed Supervisor and Technical Officer for City Parks and gardens.
He was heavily involved with coordinating the very first Floriade in 1988.
Paul had worked in many places including South Lanyon and Lanyon Homestead, Tidbinbilla Station, Conwarra, Mullumba, Freshford Equestrian, Freshford for both Tank and Gordon Gregory, River Run, Lambrigg, Castle Hill, Boroomba Homestead, Cedar Springs, Billa Springs, Val Jeffries, both general maintenance and in the shop, Cuppa, Riverview, White Gates, NAAS homestead, Top NASS.
He also gardened for several other residents in the district.
He helped to coordinate Fire Services from the Tharwa shop in the 2003 Bushfires. Having previously been the City Parks Fire Management Officer.
Paul has lived in the district including at Tidbinbilla, Gudgenby Homestead and Orroral Valley and made many friends during his lifetime.
If possible, please consider donating and supporting this cause to give Paul the send-off we feel he deserves.
