Paul Guerrero “Sydney the Kidney” transplant

Donation protected

Paul Guerrero’s got a brand new kidney.  They named her Sydney

Paul became ill in January 2020.  He went to the hospital and was told it was the flu and they sent him home.  February 2020 he went back to the hospital only to be told that he was in complete renal failure.   This is when they found out that he had a hereditary condition called Polysitic kidney disease.   Paul has been in and out of the hospital over the past year.  The last few months he has had to do daily dialysis.

Paul has been married to Valorie for 28 years and they have three children, Cameron, Lauren and  Carter.   They are raising their great niece Emma who is just a year old.  They have had her since she was two months old.   They also have a granddaughter Magnolia.    Paul is a police officer in Sugarcreek Township, Ohio.   He has been in law enforcement for 27 years.   Paul and Valorie appreciate the support they have received through their employers, community and family and friends.

Paul was in need of a kidney and had many people volunteer to see if they were a match.    There were 4 matches and Renee was the best match.  Renee works with Valorie and had never met Paul.  Renee is married and is a mom of two boys. When she had heard about Paul needing a kidney she immediately said she wanted to see if she was a match.   What a selfless act.

We are  holding this fundraiser as the medical bills have taken a toll on finances.

Nearly  100,000 people are on a waiting list for a kidney transplant.  Many more people are waiting for a kidney than for all other organs combined.  Unfortunately, the number of people waiting for kidneys is much larger than the number of available kidneys from living and deceased donors.  Many people die waiting for a life saving kidney.  You can save a life by being a kidney donor.

Paul and Valorie are extremely grateful for this generous gift of self and life that Renee has given. Paul received his new kidney on 2/21/21 and both he and Renee are doing remarkably well.  They are grateful for the support, love and prayers they have received from family, friends and coworkers.
