Paul Gross Needs Our Help!
Donation protected
8/6/22 Update: After blowing past our initial goal of $10,000 in the first 24 hours, it is easy to see that Paul Gross is loved and supported by so many! Since we are expecting the total upcoming medical costs facing Paul and Linda Gross to be substantial, we are increasing our fundraising goal to $20,000. We hope to raise enough funds to cover full medical expenses and remove all financial burdens on the Gross family. Thank you for donating, and keep spreading the word! - Tim Spicer
This is a GoFundMe for Paul Gross, a musician in the Lee County community. Paul is experiencing some serious financial hardships due to ongoing medical conditions. We hope to raise enough funds to cover his medical bills and loss of income for the Gross household while he is unable to work.
If you are a musician, or you love music and have lived in the Auburn/Opelika area in the last 30 years, chances are you have heard of Paul Gross. Paul has been a staple of the local music scene since the 90s. Paul has dedicated his life to teaching others to rock. He has been a guitar instructor, camp counselor, and cornerstone of the Spicer's Music family for the last 10 years. Before his time at Spicer's Music, Paul was an instructor and core team member of the famous Auburn Guitar Shoppe for over 15 years, where he worked under Mark McKenzie. Paul has taught thousands of students from the age of 4 to the upper 80s how to play music. It's safe to say Paul's impact on the lives of musicians and music lovers worldwide will last well beyond his years. As Paul's boss for the last 10 years, and personal friend for many more, I know that Paul is always quick to deflect compliments humbly, and he never seeks attention. I also know how hard the last few years have been on Paul and his wife, Linda, and I know they need our help.
For the last 4-5 years, Paul has been battling significant pain and medical problems due to bladder dysfunction. He has attempted to continue working and tried multiple medications and procedures, but the pain and complications from his condition eventually required him to discontinue working. His doctor has determined that surgery to remove his bladder is necessary, which will require extended recuperation time. At the time of writing this post, Paul has already been out of work for 6 weeks and will most likely not be able to return anytime soon. He has been restricted to his house but is eager to return to work when physically able. On top of the lack of consistent income, Paul currently faces steep medical bills for his previous appointments and upcoming operation. He is also battling other unrelated medical conditions that complicate the prognosis and extend the recuperation time.
Paul recently told me, "We have incurred stiff medical expenses, and our savings are all but gone. I have been assured that after I recover from surgery, I will be able to return to work and live a full life. I've never been a beggar. I've had a job since I was 15, but the time has come to ask for help."
Will you consider helping Paul get back on his feet? Let's join together as a music community and show Paul a taste of the love he has shown us throughout the years! If you have any specific questions or concerns, please direct them to Tim Spicer at Spicer's Music in Auburn, Alabama.
