Help get Paul Fleming home to be laid to rest
Donation protected
On Behalf of Annette Fleming.
My beloved husband Paul Fleming lost his short battle with Leukaemia on the 6th of January 2024.
Im reaching out to everyone who knew Paul.
Paul served in the US Navy for over 20 years and eventually became a Police officer before we found each other online and after coming out to Australia to meet in person we knew we were forever. I moved to the USA for 6 months before Paul retired and called Australia home for the last 19 years.
Paul has worked in many roles in his life with his last helping people with disabilities achieve their goals and live as independently as possible. Paul always had a passion to help people and was very proud to be an American.
Paul was tragically diagnosed with throat cancer in early 2023 where he underwent radiation and was in remission. Paul was then diagnosed with AML which is an aggressive form of lukenlmia, he went through 2 bouts of chemo before being told on Wednesday 4th Jan 2024 that there was nothing else that could be done.
During Paul’s battle he was unable to work and I became the sole income earner trying to hold us together financially. I also walk along side with people with disabilities in our community. There has been many nights and days I wish I could have been by my husband’s side during this difficult journey. However, unfortunately it wasn’t possible financially.
Paul had been trying his best even up to his last days to organise his insurance claims for income protection and death benefit whilst I was at work.
Paul sadly passed away before we were able to complete forms and have the doctor sign off for the benefits, Paul lost his battle on the 6th January.
Just days after being told there was no more chemo to be done.
Paul was a Proud US marine and his last wishes was to be taken back home to the US to be buried with his Mother and Father at Quantico cemetery in Virginia USA where he will be put to rest.
Paul was a loving Husband, Father and step Father, Grandfather, Fur father and Friend.
Paul leaves behind 7 grand children in America and 4 in Australia.
Paul had a witty sense of humour, passion for what he believed was right and wrong and would help anyone in anyway he could.
We want to send him off the way he deserves surrounded by family and friends at home in America.
Paul and Annette have never wanted to be a burden on anyone and would never ask for help, so we as their family are asking if you have the ability to please help us to get Annette to take her beloved husband home, to put him to rest.
