Paul Dubas Recovery Fund
Donation protected
**Update** It’s been over a year since we activated this Go Fund Me Page for our good friend Paul Dubas, and a lot has happened/changed since then. Since February of 2023 Paul has been fighting as hard as anyone could be expected to. Although the doctors were doubtful that he would make a full recovery, they have recently changed their tune and say that his condition is vastly improving. Treatment and recovery is still a weekly and even a daily battle. The money that has been raised for Paul has helped him get out from underneath seemingly mountains of debt caused by hospital bills. Insurance only covers so much. Although he isn’t cancer free he is now completely debt free thanks to everyone's generous donations. With that being said hospital bills continue to flood in and your continued support is greatly appreciated by Dubas, his family and closest friends.
Paul Dubas, a.k.a. "Dubas," was raised in central Colorado, where he developed a passion for the out-of-doors. As a young adult, he joined the US Marines and served the United States in Vietnam. Not long after he served as a Marine, he found solace in applying his enthusiasm for the outdoors - particularly to the art and sport of fly-fishing and his keen ability to impart knowledge to others. Paul is a true renaissance man. Over the years, he has dawned many hats in addition to serving as a US Marine. Dubas spent 14 years working as a golf pro in California. He was a self-employed barber for 12 years (mostly in Billings, Montana). Notably, after working in the beauty industry, he changed gears back to his roots and was one of Fort Smith, Montana's first fly fishing guides on Montana's Bighorn River, where he cut his teeth tying flies for his daily excursions down the Bighorn. It wasn't long before he acquired the skills necessary to be deemed a professional fly tier. He also found success and proficiency in applying the "people skills" he had developed on the golf course/driving range and in the barbershop. Dubas spent separate careers teaching kids and adults the nuances of swinging a golf club and casting a fly rod and is regionally regarded as one of the most outstanding golf instructors, fly fishers and fly tyers in the Northern Rockies. Dubas' passion and skillset make him a standout in these disciplines, where he has graciously imparted professional knowledge to generations of golfers and anglers. Truly a selfless man and one of the most excellent individuals you will ever meet. Unfortunately, Dubas is now in the throws of fighting cancer and needs all of our help. Please consider donating to aid in Dubas' battle - any amount will help surmount medical bills and the associated travel costs.
On February 4th, 2023. Come together and support Paul at the first annual 'Dubas Fun Fly Fundraiser' at Luminous Brewhouse. Starting at 4 pm, there will be fly-tying games and silent auction items (including a rod by Copper Creek Custom Rods, Custom Flies, a Renzetti Vise, and MORE). Live Music starting at 6:30 pm!
