For those traveling or who are interested, we will be hosting a family/friends cookout on Sunday, June 16, at Deer Range Pavillion at Heckscher State Park on Long Island, near where we used to live. The space is a large covered area, near the beach, perfect for an outdoor BBQ.

Update II: Good afternoon. The celebration for Paul has changed to June 15, 2024, due to unforeseen circumstances. We hope to confirm a venue by April 1, and we've expanded our search to include NYC spaces. We will also be sending out a RSVP list for folks to make sure we have enough space and order enough food. Again, thanks for your friendship and love.

Update: First, we want to thank everyone who has donated, texted, called, emailed, and reached out to support our family. We're amazed but unsurprised by your generosity and love. Please put a hold on your calendar for [Changed to June 15, 2024.] We are working on details for a memorial event on Long Island, close to transit, parking, and lodging. We will let you know as soon as we can.

Love,
Frank, Edward, Anthony, and the entire Barrera Family
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Paul Barrera died suddenly on March 6, 2024. We are heartbroken. He left behind two sons, a close, extended family, and a community of longtime friends.

Paul was born in Queens, New York. Among four brothers, he was the second oldest son of Edna Milagros (Millie) Barrera and Fernando Barrera. A traveler, natural artist, lover of music, deep reader, and collector of loyal friends, he was a raconteur who could turn a momentary experience into a laughter-filled yarn, an insightful story, or a surprising, odd tale. He believed in helping others. The calm amid the storms, he would turn fiercely protective of his loved ones. Paul was, in the past few years, navigating a path of self-awareness that he found exciting and invigorating.

We are asking for your help. Donations will go toward the memorial service, funeral service, travel, with the remaining funds going to his two children.

We want to thank everyone who has reached out and offered support. Paul truly loved you all, loved life, and will be a part of our lives forever.

Love,
The Barrera Family
