Thank you everyone for journeying with our family and the process of recovery for Ashley. Please stick with us as the journey will be long and slow. I will try to update you all when I can. Today they tried to take Ashley off the ventilator but were unable to do so due to a rapid increase in her breathing and heart rate. They are trying to keep her comfortable but also wean her off sedation medication in hopes that perhaps tomorrow will go better and she can come off the ventilator very soon. She has been on the ventilator over a week now. Yesterday Ashley was alert but unable to speak due to the ventilator which was very frustrating for Ashley and very difficult for Paul.
More infection has been found in her abdomen but it is being drained and we are praying that they are getting it all out. She still has a high fever and is battling so many complications at this moment it is difficult to list them all. The doctors are staying optimistic reminding Paul that the journey for her recovery will be long and each day is a gift to celebrate so that is what we are choosing to do! Paul asked that I not post any pictures at this time but wanted to say thank you all so very much for the continued prayers and encouragement, donations and support. They go further than you think and are greatly needed.
So since Christmas is coming up I have had many people asking about how to help with gifts for the kids /family or where to place donations.
If you would like to make a donation there are multiple options. We've started this GoFundMe page for an additional, easy way to add donations. Everything given will be distributed directly to Paul and Ashley and family for medical expenses, gas, food and other needs.
You can aldo donate via PayPal or Venmo
Check or gift card: If you wish to mail a check or gift cards please message me (Jennifer Baringer) so I can give you the mailing address! Gift card ideas include but not limited to Target, Walmart, Meijer, Kroger, Amazon, Chick Fil-A, Panera Bread, Papa Johns pizza, restaurants, and gas cards for traveling to and from the hospital.
Christmas shopping: Please Click on the link to see the family's Christmas list plus some added ideas for health needs for Ashley and their special needs son Malachi. We hope to make this Christmas extra special for this sweet family who desperately needs to feel support and encouragement this Season.
Ways to pray: Please continue to pray for healing for Ashley and wisdom for Paul and the doctors as Ashley cannot communicate to express how she feels. Patience, strength and peace for Paul and Ashley and their four sweet children as they are all exhausted and unsure of the future.
Notes of encouragement: Please continue to message me prayers or encouraging notes that I can send on to Paul. They help so much to lift his spirits as he sits and reads them to Ashley!
