Update:
We’re a third of the way toward our funding goal! We had a blast in December and were able to route another visit in the first week of March to finish the two songs we’ve started and hopefully chip away at a third. We would love to get two singles out this spring and are starting to look at the next steps of rolling out a release.
These are specific things we are currently most in need of for this project:
- help with rent and utilities to supplement time away from home and off work
- gas and food for our next week at the studio ($500, Feb 26-March 5)
- mixing and mastering ($500 per song, two songs needed asap)
- software for video and photo editing ($42/month for partial or $600/year for full adobe suite)
- sewing machine for wardrobe customization/cover shoot ($50 for used)
- a better laptop with processing power for video editing ($1,800)
Thank you so much for helping us make such huge progress on this project. We are so excited. I’ll be sending out my Patty demo mix of “Schrödinger” soon just so you can hear what these chaotically assembled pieces sound like stacked on top of each other. (:
Here’s our next round of live streams:

Hi, I’m Patty PerShayla and I’m raising funds to produce my next album, in collaboration with my dear friends David Hempstead and Paul Abel.
I have always had a lot to say about gender roles, mental health, social justice, and the digital age, but I am at a point now where I’m ready to deliver that message unfiltered. I have taken on more of a role as a producer, guitarist, and beyond for this project, partly out of necessity but mostly so the songs will be truer to my vision than any other album or EP I’ve released. I’m looking around at the state of things and though I have felt hopeless at times, I feel so driven to continue channeling that frustration into something electric; moving my body and getting others to move, too. With this record, I want to embrace my queerness, discuss my mental health journey, challenge the status quo, and honestly, sometimes I just want to fucking dance.
So, I need help to make this vision come to life. I have booked two recording retreats in 2026 at the studio where I feel I do my best work, have access to suitable gear, and have the most creative freedom. Our very favorite way to make music, especially in the current streaming landscape, is through pay-what-you-can crowdfunding, which allows us to make independent choices and offer all of our music for free.
As part of this project, we will be streaming live from the studio, giving anybody who wants to tune in a peek into our recording process. We are offering access to these streams at no cost, with the option to donate through GoFundMe, for those who are able. I hope you can tune in to one of the studio sessions and watch our creativity in action.
And in case I don’t say it enough, or even if I do, thank you for keeping us independent and for putting gas in our tank, literally and figuratively. We remain determined and grateful.
Much love,
Patty
