Hi, I’m Patty PerShayla and I’m raising funds to produce my next album.
I have booked a weeklong recording retreat this December at Angry Hobbit Studios, where I feel I do my best work, in collaboration with my drummer and co-producer, David Hempstead. We’re looking to get tracking for a handful of singles wrapped up during this visit and will return in 2026 to round out a full album. I have always had a lot to say about gender roles, mental health, social justice, the digital age, and more, but I am at a point now where I’m able to deliver that message unfiltered. Meaning, I have been working hard and am ready to take on more of a role as a producer, guitarist, and beyond for this album. But, I need help to make this vision come to life.
Dave and I have been hitting the road hard in 2025 (50 full band shows and 9 solo shows over the course of 127 business travel days, swapping out guitarists the whole time) and it has been difficult to hit the brakes and really hone in on a more realized sound for this next record. We absolutely love touring but this “down” time is equally important for writing new songs, hashing out parts, developing a new live set, making content, finding a permanent guitarist, and all the other things bands need to do to make a cohesive sound (with visuals). Making a record involves a lot of time and expenses, including: studio labor, mixing, mastering, gear upgrades and tune-ups, CD production, and in this case, even some gas and groceries.
Our very favorite way to make music, especially in the current streaming landscape, is through pay-what-you-can crowdfunding, which allows us to make independent choices and offer all of our music for free. As part of this session, we will be streaming live from the studio for an hour each day (starting at 7:30PM EST from December 16th to 22nd), giving anybody who wants to tune in a peek into our recording process. We are offering access to these streams at no cost, with the option to donate through GoFundMe, for those who are able. I hope you can tune in to one of the studio sessions and watch our creativity in action. As a thank you, I’m also happy to share some pre-studio demos to our donors.
And in case I don’t say it enough, or even if I do, thank you for keeping us independent and for putting gas in our tank, literally and figuratively. We remain determined and grateful.
Much love,
Patty
