Patty is the practice manager at UPMC Internal Medicine practice. She has been an employee of UPMC for over 10 years. She is also the sole provider for her daughter, Alexis, who currently is studying West Virginia University. She also provides support in many ways to some members of her extended family that reside with her.
On the morning of 11/3/2016 Patty was in a severe auto accident on her way to work. Someone pulled out in front her and she hit him head on. She has sustained multiple fractures and has required over 15 hours of surgeries. Some of her injuries include: arm fractures, wrist fracture, knee fracture, femur fracture, tibia fracture and crushing injury to her foot/ankle.
She is non-weight bearing for the next 4 weeks, at least and then will need to start inpatient rehabilitation.
Patty was also the sole caregiver to her elderly mom, Peggy, who also resided at her home. Peggy has a history of falls, and on 11/7/16 she had another fall. This fall, however, resulted in a head injury. Unfortunately, do to this new injury she passed away on 11/9/16. Due to being at different hospitals, Patty did not have the opportunity to see Peggy before she passed or attend her mother’s memorial service.
Funeral and medical expenses are quickly piling up. Any donation that you can possible give would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small. This fund will be used for home expenses, medical bills, and assistance with her mom’s burial.
Patty selflessly gives to others, her staff, coworkers, and especially her family. She remains in great spirits even through such tragedy and diversity. Her optimistic attitude can be lesson for us all.
