Patty Cordio's Recovery

Update:
The goal is being increased after hitting each of the other two goals. The bills are multipling quickly and they are now down to one income. There are a lot of unanswered questions regarding insurance. (If you have been through any situation with insurance claims you will understand). Keeping the details private, any amount will be extremely helpful and appreciated. The less extra stress for them the better.
If you are not getting Brandon's updates on Patty, please indicate.
Thank you, thank you!
On February 20, 2017, Patty and her 5 girls were hit head on by a drunk driver. The girls were able to walk away with minor injuries. Patty's corner of the van took the worst of the hit, pinning her in the van, leaving her with several injuries.
She will be out of work for at least 6 months, possibly indefinitely, leaving them with one income. The expenses are already adding up as Brandon has also been off of work to be by her side.
They have a long road ahead of them. Brandon has a lot on his plate and I'm hoping that the financial burden can be one that we help with.
Previous posts from her husband, Brandon:
They just got finished x-raying and imaging Patty's whole body and it is not good. She has a fracture to her C1 and C2 vertebrae. On her left side she has a fractured numerous, a fractured femur bone above her left knee, a fracture in her lower left leg and a fractured left foot.
... surgery her shin and ankle bone that is fractured using a rod or a plate, and then fix her femur bone with a rod or a plate. They said she will most likely be in the hospital for two weeks and then they will fix her numerous and see how the neck is progressing before making the decision to do surgery on the neck and a small fracture they found in her right arm. Those are the fractures that can be fixed
She has a fracture in her hip pocket that is like a toe injury and has to heal in its own.
So doctors and nurses have come and gone for now. It is 1:45 am Wednesday morning. They were only able to do Patty's left leg due to the amount of damage that was. She has a duel displaced femur bone break that has been repaired using fixation device rods and plates made out of titanium that go from her upper hip down through the knee where the rods are joined with a nail to the tibia bone that was also fractured.
The Trauma doctor came in and said tomorrow they will address the left humerus and hopefully the deep angiogram to look at the vessel in the back of her neck that is presenting some concerns.
Patty will be out for a couple of days with a breathing tube to help her while she is sedated and resting.
As I sit here alone watching her sleep and seeing her bruised, broken and battered body laying still and motionless a hard dose of reality has kicked in and for the first time I feel overwhelmed and exhausted.
Update number 50. Just signed off for the neurosurgeon and his team to do the angiogram once they have the availability by that I mean there are two people before Patty who have more severe physical needs so they are working on them first. I will let you know when I know about the time for that procedure.
Saw her X-rays from before and after surgery these doctors did an AMAZING job getting her bones realigned and splinted. She has a TON of titanium rods, plates, and screws in the left side of her body from the waste down it was not pretty.
She will be going down to have the angiogram soon, and we will see if the tube can come out today and if the other surgery for her arm can be done.
They are slowly backing her off of the sedation medication, and she was moving her legs and squeezing my hand. She was able to nod and answer questions to tell us she was in pain they gave her more pain meds.
Once the Angiogram is complete they will have a much better understanding of what if anything is wrong in the neck, and what options are available to correct the problem. So please keep praying and as I have been saying a lot lately once I know more I will update everyone again.
One more thing they gave her two units of blood to help replace the large amount of blood she lost during the surgery, and they have started giving her meds to help ensure she does not get any blood clots.
Ok prayer warriors some good news. I spoke to the neurologist about 30 minutes ago and he said after a further examination of the vessel there is no concerns with it. They found a small abnormality, but it was not stopping blood flow so they do not have to touch it, and once her surgery is over tomorrow they can start her in aspirin and it will thin out and heal itself. They will follow up on it in three months. Praising our Great!!! God and Healer who is continually answering all of our prayers and slowly mending my beautiful wife's body back together.
Patty was just rolled down to the OR. I spoke with the surgeon and anesthesiologist who will be taking care of they are going to do an external fixation right now instead of the screws and plates due to the vessel issue on the back of her neck they can't roll her on her side to get the arm in proper position for the screws and plates, and They want to allow a couple of weeks for the neck to heal before having her come back for the full repair of the humerus which is broken in 6 places.
The doctor said we gave up to three weeks to move the bone around before proper settling and healing sets in. This external fixation will keep the elbow immobile, but still allow her to move around more comfortably in bed.
The surgery should take 30-45 minutes and then recovery so over all they said she can be gone for 2-3 hours.
The intubation tube should be coming out today as well which is GREAT!!!! news as she has been begging and signing the word drink to us for the past two days.
Not sure the will go on today they want her to be awake and alert under a local numbing agent on the head to tell them as they are drilling and placing the bolts into her skull if she is losing feeling in her hands or other parts of the body.
That was long, but that is the latest update keep praying, re post this share with friends etc...
