Patty and Lakota are Struggle: Debt After Mother's Passing

Donation protected
My name is Patty. I am a 60 year old single mother. I am reasonable and a proud person and that makes it hard for me to ask for help but a this point I have no other choice. I work a retail job for the last 17 years. My son is also working a part job and will be graduating high school this year. I am asking for financial help because my mother passed away on December 17, 2024. My mother was 84 years old and had been in great health until April 2024 when she was diagnosed with dementia. Things went down hill after that. She wad bed ridden on November 16, 2024 and had in house hospice care a few time a week. I was her main caregiver. Being a caregiver to someone you love is heartbreaking in so many ways. I watched my mothers health decline at a rapped pace and there was nothing I could do to help her except try and make her as comfortable as possible. Being a caregiver to her I had to put a emotional wall up so I could give her the proper care otherwise I would of fallen apart and would not be able to care for her. Dementia robbed me of the time I had left to be with her. I was with her when she passed away at home. I was grateful and honored to be with her as she passed. The reasons I am asking for any help possible. She had bought a car (Prius) that she was paying off to give to my son. I was going to take over the loan after she passed away but due to unexpected expenses I am no longer able to take out any kind of loan at this time. She owed 6500.00. Two days after her passing the ABS system went out on the car. The car needs to be repaired and being a hybrid it is very expense to repair. It would be over 6000.00 to repair the car so I am turning it back to the bank. I need to get my son a different car now. My mother shredded all the papers in our filing cabinet so it has been eye opening when I started to look for any records I would need. She had no life insurance. she was getting social security in the amount of 24000.00 a year so I now don't have that extra income to try and pay bills or buy a car. She also took out a loan against my house for 50,000.00 and paid off her credit card debit with out my knowledge or my signature. She had a life estate, which means she can live in the house until she passes but cannot take out a loan against the house without my permission but the bank let her do it. I do not have the money to hire a lawyer to get this fixed at the bank and I will be responsible to pay this money back. At this point I am not even sure I can keep up with my monthly bills. If there is anyway anyone could help us out through these devastating hard times I would be forever grateful to you and one day pass the help on to someone that needs it. This has been completely overwhelming and devastating for my son and myself. I am scared we are going to loose everything and end up homeless. My fear is smothering me.
