THIS IS MY SISTER PATTI.
She's a mother, stepmother, loving wife, sister, friend and a new grandmother to a beautiful granddaughter. And she has Stage 3 Cervical Cancer.
THE C-WORD.
Patti has been suffering for quite awhile with undiagnosed pain so debilitating that it has caused her to lose time off of work on multiple occassions. When the source of her pain was finally determined to be cancer, it had already advanced to Stage 3 and was inoperable.
Last week Patti started Chemo & Radiation. Fortunately, her insurance is covering most of her medical expenses.
BUT TREATMENT ISN'T THE ONLY COST OF CANCER.
Because of her husband's health issues, Patti has been the primary breadwinner for her family. But with her cancer treatment, she is expected to be off of work for at least three months. While FMLA protects her from losing her job while she undergoes chemo & radiation, it doesn't pay the bills for her family. Naturally, they are worried about how they will make it three months with the loss of most of the income they normally rely on.
