In August of 2019 our mom, Patti Malson, had surgery to remove a cyst that was starting a fluid build up on her brain and was creating issues with her motor functions. This most likely would have worsened over time. Not long after the first surgery she started having complications. These complications led to her having a brain aneurysm. Luckily the doctors were able to fix the aneurysm but more complications with the shunt started to occur. Over the last 10 months she has had 23 surgeries and procedures including the addition of a pacemaker and second shunt to drain more fluid build up on her brain. On top of all of that she has had to go through being transferred back and fourth from the hospital to a rehab facility multiple times. Most recently she had a  stroke along with pneumonia. She was recently sent home because insurance would not cover her stay at the rehab facility any longer. She is currently on a feeding tube and needs around the clock care that is mainly being provided by our dad. Multiple doctors have recommended that she receive care from the Centre for Neuro Skills. Due to all of the trauma her brain has gone through these last few months, they feel it would be very beneficial to her recovery to get her in ASAP. Even with these doctor's requests, her insurance denied the treatment. Out of pocket this treatment costs close to $600 a day with a recommended 3 sessions per week. We are asking for any help at all because even one session could make a big difference in her road to recovery. Thank you.
