Our mother, Patricia is a mother of 4 adult children and 6 grandchildren. She has been living with diabetes for the past 25 years, and as many know suffered a major heart attack in 2012 due to this terrible disease. Since that day her kidneys have taken the brunt of the damage and she has been living with low kidney function ever since. In 2016 she was able to begin at-home dialysis. Tho this form of treatment is helpful she is needing to have a kidney transplant. We hope this will be a final resolution to the nightly dialysis treatments and the ongoing kidney failure.
Fortunately, she has been blessed to have our father Martin listed as a living donor, and we have recently found out he is a complete match.
(talk about soulmates :) .
With that being said, our parents are currently pending a surgery/transplant date of August 19th, on this date both of our parents will be heading into surgery to hopefully provide our mother with a stable and healthy future. Our father has always been the main provider of their household and as of last April he did retire from his job to assist our mother with her ever growing health needs. With the help of health insurance and the kidney foundation they will be able to get most of the surgery covered, there is still a remaining amount that our parents do need to cover out of pocket. Not to mention the need for additional followup appointments for the both of them , and of course the upcoming need for antirejection medications for our mother as well.
Our parents have been helpfull to many people and touched many lives including family and friends and we are hoping that we wil be able to reach out and request some assistance in their time of need.
