Dear Friends, Family, Teachers & Students of Emei Qigong
My name is Holly and I am creating a GoFundMe campaign for my best friend, Pat Bolger. She needs our help as she navigates through two major surgeries and periods of rest and recovery in between. There is a two-fold purpose of this campaign. It is to not only support Pat as she heals herself, but also to become a part of a much larger mission as we help to fulfill her vision of growing and sharing the healing arts of Emei Qigong. To know Pat, is to know her as a dedicated and talented healer, a smart businesswoman, a caring friend, loving mom and sister, teacher, and lifelong student of the Asian healing arts. As a disciple of Emei Qigong she believes that personal crisis is also opportunity. She is seizing this time not only to heal, but also to create something much bigger than her own healing.
Recently, during a preop exam for hernia surgery, Pat’s doctors discovered that she must first have heart surgery to repair her mitral valve. This unforeseen heart surgery was promptly scheduled for August 30th. The initial hernia surgery can wait until after she recovers from heart surgery, but it is not an optional procedure and is also planned for later this year.
The prognosis for a full recovery from both surgeries is excellent, but this will take some time. Pat has been a sole proprietor, and practitioner of Zen Shiatsu and Emei Qigong for over two decades. As a full-time healer and instructor, it's her life's work to support others, helping her many clients get through the toughest of life's challenges. The idea that she will need to take 3 or 4 months off from her business is absolutely daunting. Many of her medical expenses will be covered by insurance; however, there will be deductibles, therapy sessions, co-pays, and most importantly, loss of income.
She has had to act quickly. In early August, she taught a 10-day Emei Qigong seminar that was scheduled months earlier. It was a commitment she wanted to fulfill before her surgery. She has also seen many clients in a compressed timeframe to be able to clear her schedule and prepare for the months ahead. I have seen her receive this news about her health, transition through the extra long work days, and now prepare for the upcoming procedures. She has been steadfast, but humbled by this experience. Knowing that her family, friends and extensive "energetic family" is right here beside her, fully committed and supportive, has given her strength and optimism. Every day I hear her say "Words cannot express my gratitude. Thank you, thank everyone, for ALL that you are doing."
The second and greatly important reason for a monetary campaign, is that once she is able, Pat would like to use her healing time away from her office to write a book about the healing journey, specifically, how to use Emei Qigong for self-healing in conjunction with Western medicine. In addition, she would like to create several online teachings of Emei Qigong so that she may further the spread of this very poignant and extensive healing tradition.The production costs of these projects will be substantial. Pat's ultimate vision is to create an Emei Qigong Healing Center in Connecticut. She knows that this is a long term goal and a sizable undertaking. She also knows that it must wait until she's fully recovered.
Pat always says two phrases "Energy follows thought," and "It's all about timing and opportunity." Following these two concepts at this time is to follow the natural flow of the Universal Qi in her life. She has asked us to begin moving in this direction with her today. It is through this movement of Qi, her book, the online teachings and ultimately, the center, that Pat feels she will do the most healing: within herself, her community, the country and the world.
