A boat Pat can sit in with MS
Donation protected
Pat Irwin has had Multiple Sclerosis since 2003. A former Pro ultra-distance cyclist, the recent progression of MS has been overwhelming, and his exercise options have been limited.
Now he cannot sit in a normal kayak, due to the progression of MS on his left leg and lower body. He lives by the ocean in Alaska and would love to get out there on the water and paddle and be free (his upper body is working ok). This particular kind of boat (WaveWalk) would be great for him; he can sit in a straddle position or stand and move his legs around when they get numb. The money raised would go towards this style ( Wavewalk) boat, a wet or dry suit, life jacket, neoprene shoes, a paddle and shipping it to Alaska . This photo was taken when he tried out this style boat at a rental place to be sure it worked for him. With this boat he’d be able to paddle from our house, have more freedom, and be able to enjoy the wilderness where he lives - without his cane. Exercise slows the progression of MS and this would sure help! He needs a boost for his spirits and more exercise options that don't involve legs as much. He would be VERY grateful if this dream can become a reality for him. (I'm Pat’s wife, Kathy and am posting this for him.) Thank you!
