Pat's battle with small cell lung cancer

Hi, the children of Pat Kewin are asking for prayers and support for his fight with small cell lung cancer. Pat and his wife Angie are struggling to stay afloat with the medical bills from not 1 but 2 cancer diagnosis. Pat is the sole income provider and insurance carrier and him being off work has been tough to say the least.

Pat is a father, grand father, husband and brother and we are all saddened by the most recent cancer diagnosis.

His cancer journey started in 2020 when he was diagnosed with throat cancer. He went through many chemo and radiation treatments and was ultimately in remission. We were so thankful that those treatments worked and we would have more time with him.

Fast forward to this summer 2021. He got a cold (or what he thought was a cold) in July, however it didn't go away and only got worse. In August he went in to urgent care to be told it was asthma and was given an inhaler and Prednisone and sent home. Things only worsened and he got so weak and tired and couldn't handle any physical tasks. Pat went back into the doctor and this time they took an x-ray and noticed his lungs were filled with fluid. He was admitted for 2 nights in order to get the fluid drained and make sure his 02 levels were steady. On the x-rays they also noticed multiple nodules/lesions. A biopsy was done which confirmed that he has stage 4 Small cell lung cancer.

This was not the news we were hoping for. Dad has started Chemo and has an at home oxygen machine to help him breathe. This all happened so fast, and insurance has not approved many treatments that were started because they NEEDED to be done ASAP.

We hope Insurance will cover what needs to be done. Right now they are looking at around $30,000 in out of pocket costs just from the last couple years. We don't know what my family will do without our father, and what our mom will do without her husband. They have been together for 40+ years and are each other's everything.
