Patrol Rally for Derek, Isaac and Sherlock
Donation protected
My name is Matt Wood, I am a volunteer ski patroller and Patrol Chief/COO of Mt Hood Ski Patrol in Portland OR and I am asking for your love and help for one of our good guys, Derek Phillips, and his son and their beloved dog Sherlock.
Derek is a valued member of our patrol with an amazing heart, a lovely family and a strong work ethic. On Thursday 3/13, Derek was driving home from a mountain day with Isaac and their pup Sherlock. An oncoming truck lost control and swerved across three lanes of traffic at 60 MPH. Derek reacted just in time to avoid a total head-on collision, but the wreck totaled his car and sent them all to the hospital. Derek and Isaac are banged up but fortunately not seriously injured, although there's a major emotional toll. Sherlock was knocked unconscious and required emergency vet intervention for internal bleeding. Thankfully, after a couple of days of touch-and-go treatment, Sherlock is home now, too.
Derek and his family have a tough road to recovery and some significant medical and vet bills, as well as needing a new car. On behalf of myself and MHSP, I would greatly appreciate any assistance that our local mountain community and any patrols near and far might be able to provide.
