Patrick's Smile
Donation protected
UPDATE: Thank you SO much to everyone who has donated so far. Our family has been blown away by the outpouring of support you have shown, and we are so grateful to everyone for sending love and resources. This has been a scary and isolating journey (especially for Patrick), and this fundraiser has made us feel for the first time like we are not going through it alone. So again THANK YOU!
We have a new plan in place: there is a highly-respected oral surgeon in Mexico City who has agreed to do the semi-permanent dental implants procedure for approximately $17,500. This is a huge difference from the estimates we were seeing in the US, and we are very excited to be able to move forward with the clinic. The expense and travel has been approved by the judge overseeing the Special Needs Trust, and now we are just waiting on a passport for P. Shannon and I will be traveling with him to Mexico City (likely in October) for the procedure.
We have already raised an incredible $10,000 for Patrick's Smile, but we are hoping that with one more push we can get closer to the updated goal of $17,500. Every dollar raised here is a dollar that does not come out of Patrick's fund- which he needs to save for future medical care and living expenses. Again, I will be depositing this money into his Special Needs Trust and 100% of donations will go towards his oral health. Thank you again everyone for your support (emotional, financial, and otherwise). We love you so much!!

If you know Patrick, you know he is the biggest goofball who loves to laugh with his friends and family. He is always the first to get on stage- whether for improv or karaoke or the Make Me Laugh game at family functions- and he never fails to bring smiles to the faces of those lucky enough to be in his crowd. I am lucky enough to be his sister.

Patrick has been struggling with his dental health for the last few years- a problem which has become a vicious cycle. The worse his teeth got, the more painful they were to take care of. Now unfortunately his teeth, gums, and jaw bones are in a such a state where we need serious help from an oral surgeon.
Our ideal plan is to get dental implants (semi-permanent dentures) which are the healthiest and most sustainable option for P in the long run. Our oral surgeon gave us a quote of $55,000 (after insurance). We are in the process of looking into alternative and more affordable options, but whichever plan we land on, we're sure the cost will be substantially more than we can afford. That said, fixing his teeth is crucially important to Patrick's health and dignity, and we will do whatever it takes to fix his smile.
I’ll be depositing this money into a Special Needs Trust which I manage on Patrick’s behalf. Though our course of action is not yet clear, 100% of this donation will go towards Patrick's oral health over the next few months.
I imagine this post will be seen predominantly by friends and family, and thought this would be an easy way for everyone to donate in one place. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about this platform. I will leave questions about details of Patrick's health and treatment to his discretion.
