Patrick's Physical Therapy
My name is Patrick. I’m a caseworker at a homeless outreach center in Dallas. I’m there because I have an overwhelming desire to do something that helps people improve their lives, to make a difference. Most of my friends and family know that I have been recovering from a motorcycle accident. I crashed on my way to work in mid-October. Just started paying off the medical bills from x-rays, MRI’s, doctor visits, the ER, but they are still coming in. I was hoping to be released from physical therapy today only to find out that I need 6 more weeks. My insurance deductible just started over this year which means I have to pay the full cost of therapy sessions up front. My first session is supposed to be Wednesday, January 11th.
**After spending a few hours between my insurance company & Baylor Rehabs billing I have found that the actual cost will be much less than anticipated. This is great news but I still have a ways to go.**
I need to recover so that I don’t injure myself further. I miss swimming, I miss playing guitar & I miss my newest interest in martial arts. Wing Chun has taught me to stay calm even in the most stressful of situations, to relax my body, to control my mind & emotions under duress. It has transformed my life. I need to heal so that I can get back in the pool, pick up a guitar, return to training and help others who are less fortunate than me. But none of that will happen if I can’t pay.
I wouldn’t be here, asking for your help if there was another way. The cost of this injury will break me. But with a little help, I’ll be able to continue helping others, and make this world a little brighter.
