Patrick is a devoted husband, loving dad and grandpa, and a respected former deputy sheriff, pastor, and professor. Throughout his life, he has been the one people turned to—whether in moments of crisis, through words of faith, or in the classroom, teaching, uplifting, mentoring, and inspiring countless students. He has spent his life giving of himself with integrity, compassion, and service. Today, however, it is Patrick who needs help, and it is our family asking the community he poured his heart into to stand with us.

One year ago, our world was turned upside down. What was meant to be a routine surgery to repair a torn quadricep became life-threatening when Patrick suffered a bi-lateral pulmonary embolism that stopped his heart. After more than twenty minutes of CPR, by the grace of God, he was brought back to us—but with a devastating brain injury that changed everything.

Since then, we have witnessed miracle after miracle. Patrick has slowly fought his way back—opening his eyes, speaking one-syllable words, and showing us daily that he is still fighting. He requires 100% assistance and cannot move or care for himself, but every small step has been a triumph. After more than 33 years of marriage, one thing I know for certain—and anyone who knows him can confirm—is that Patrick is a fighter. Our family is fighting for him and walking this road together, leaning on our faith and holding tightly to hope for the man we love so dearly.

The reality is that Patrick’s journey to recovery will be long and challenging, requiring extensive inpatient neurological rehabilitation at a specialized Neuro and Body Rehabilitation Hospital in Texas. Transportation alone to get him there ranges from $20,000 to $60,000 one way. Additional medical care, therapies, possible surgeries, and equipment continue to add to the overwhelming financial burden—especially as insurance has denied several essential treatments that could significantly impact his recovery.

This is why we are reaching out to you—friends, family, partners, neighbors, former students, colleagues, and community members whose lives Patrick has touched through the years. We have exhausted every other option, and this fundraiser is our last hope to get him the care he desperately needs.

Patrick has lived a life of service—protecting others as a police officer, nurturing souls as a pastor, and shaping young minds as a professor. He never asked for anything in return. Now we are asking on his behalf.
