Hi my name is Patrick Kenney. I am 38 years old--In November 2011 I was out on my normal run of about 10 miles in Redondo Beach. I was perfectly healthy as far as I knew; in-fact I had just exited the United States Marine Corps after 10-years of service to our country. I was a big-time runner and in excellent shape. On my run I was approximately 2 blocks from home when the entire left side of my body went numb--I freaked out thinking I was having some type of stroke or heart attack--it didn't make sense because I had just recently received a clean bill of health. I stayed on my feet, made it to my apartment somehow. Got a ride to the hospital where they did all kinds of tests--it wasn't a heart attack--finally after being in the E.R. all day they ran an MRI on me two hours later the Treating physician came out to me and my girlfriend and said: "Mr. Kenney you have a very large Mass in your brain" that's when I got the biggest lump in my throat--didn't know what to think. Ever since then life has changed so drastically--I had surgery for "debulking" in February of 2012 at UCSF performed by Dr. Mitchel Berger--I was lucky, Dr. Berger also did the same type of surgery on Senator Ted Kennedy--best in the country. I've been on chemo and many anti-seizures and anxiety meds. I had to step down from a great career I had going at USC this past April of 2016 that's when I lost my benefits--now I'm trying to pay many many hospital expenses and other types of living expenses--I'm essentially homeless--I sleep on peoples floors or couches as I can't afford rent anymore. I could really use some monetary help for both medical costs and finding a decent place to live or get some roommates--I'm looking into my V.A. benefits and other types of State Assistance--process is very slow. Right now I'm in Big Bear Lake, CA which is my hometown and it's about to get very cold as it is at 7,500 feet and will begin snowing soon. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This Marine will fight to the end, I get it from my dad--the will to survive and never give up. Any questions you may have please feel free to ask. God Bless.
