Patrick's medical and rehab expense

Donation protected
Our family is from Liberia, West Africa. We have lived in the US for over a decade. We came in as refugees as a result of the civil war in Liberia.
Roanoke, VA instantly became our home because of the love and warmth we received when we came. We are a stable and united family so the following incident came as a shock to all of us.

On February 20th, 2017; I got a call from my mother... "Patrick had been shot and I dont think he will make it " are the words I could decipher. My entire world came crashing with those words.
Shot? You said Shot? Mom said yes! I rushed to the hospital to see my brother and to understand what happened. our family members came in one by one and we waited  for hours to see Patrick, my brother!

Finally, the doctor came to explain his injuries.
Patrick had been shot 6 times; several of the bullets hit his lungs through and through. One of the bullets grazed his heart and travelled through his lungs and embedded itself in his hip. He was bleeding profusely so  he had an open chest surgery.  His heart stopped twice and the doctors did everything they could to save him. He is alive and was expected to be ok! Those words were like several daggers going through our hearts all at once but knowing he would be ok give us hope. We never thought that our own could fall victim to gun violence right in front of our house.

Patrick is a fighter! When we were in exile in Cote D'Ivoire, he would go out every day to shine people's shoes and bring money home for us to eat. He was so young but he cared so much about people.
Patrick is funny! he would make us laugh by telling funny stories and he did the best impersonations. My brother, my keeper! He was always there for me and everyone when we needed him.
He was a soccer star at North Cross and he went to VMI  for two years. He has impacted the lives of so many people around him. He did not deserve this!

It has been a week now, and Glory be to God Patrick is a miracle. He survived this tragic event and is progressing towards full recovery.

Patrick has extensive medical bills and also he needs rehab to fully recover. Our family is unable to take care of all his medical expenses. This is why I created this page to ask for help for my brother.

We are pleading to everyone out there to please help us.

Thank you,
Love Jamesetta.
