Patrick’s Heart Transplant Journey

I am reaching out on behalf of my family with an urgent call for help. Our dear Patrick Armstrong suffered from a massive heart attack on Friday, May 26th. That day Patrick spent the afternoon building a trampoline for his children. Once completed, he went to the gym with his family when he started experiencing chest pains and an ambulance was called. On the way to the hospital, the EMS team had to pull over to revive him. When they arrived at the emergency room, he was rushed into surgery and then, after, admitted to the ICU. Patrick suffered a heart attack that damaged his heart beyond repair. He remains under sedation in the ICU in a stable but critical situation, awaiting a heart transplant.

Since his first day at the hospital, Patrick had angioplasty to open up his coronary arteries but was too unstable to have stents placed. He was very quickly placed on ECMO to help oxygenate and pump his blood because his heart was so badly damaged. The left side of his heart was not pumping effectively and they had to place an Impella device to help with the left-sided heart failure. Complicating things further he came down with the flu and pneumonia. Patrick requires a heart transplant and he needs to be stabilized and complete a workup for the heart transplant. He is looking at an extensive hospital stay.

Patrick is an extremely loved 42-year-old husband, father of three, son, brother, uncle cousin, and friend. If you know him, you know Patrick is a happy, outgoing, hard-working and is a very spiritual and religious family man.

Patrick is a longshoreman and the sole breadwinner for his family. We are asking for donations to help his family with the cost of living and his medical bills.
