During the week of August 9th my brother Pat began to feel unwell. Muscle aches and lethargy began to consume him and we had no clue as to why. On Thursday August 12 he was admitted to the hospital where the doctors performed X-Rays and a CT scan. The results came back positive for Covid and Pneumonia. Pat was taken to the Intensive Care Unit when his breathing function began to decline. In order to assist his breathing and lung function, he was placed in Critical Care and put on a ventilator. Because there was no improvement with the ventilator, an ECMO procedure was performed to do the job of the lungs and heart, allowing the organs to rest and recover. We are thankful that the procedure seems to be working and his blood pressure and oxygen levels have improved but he has a very long road to recovery.
