Patrick's battle with leukemia (ALL)
Donation protected
After taking time off work on Sept. 18th as a Covid precaution, Patrick was home sick with a sore throat, speech problems and several other symptoms. As his condition worsened he became unable to eat solid foods and suffered from severe weight loss. He visited multiple doctors who said it was only a sore throat but on Sept. 30th he visited a throat specialist who feared vocal chord paralysis. He was rushed to Humber River hospital to do several tests where they found severe nerve damage caused by swollen lymph nodes. From there Patrick was admitted overnight and transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital the next morning where he underwent several blood and bone marrow tests. On Oct. 2nd, he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). As of Oct. 3rd Patrick has begun his induction phase of chemotherapy mostly consisting of IV injections, spinal injections and oral medication. Due to the 2 and a half year chemotherapy treatment plan he now faces, Patrick will not be able to work for at least the next year and has begun the financial burden of living off of long-term disability. The money raised by this gofundme will go towards helping him cover the financial struggles of being unable to work and provide for his household that he shares with mother Sandra. It will also help cover the cost of several weekly trips to and from Princess Margaret for chemotherapy treatments and other appointments.
