Patrick Witmer and Family
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Vicki. I am raising money for my great-nephew, Patrick, and his family. Patrick is the sweetest 9-year-old I know, even though he has severe scoliosis and neurofibromas (benign tumors) and is facing major surgery soon.
He recently saw his doctor and had CT scans and MRI that showed his scoliosis and tumors he has been dealing with have progressed into something worse than expected, and he will undergo a 12-hour surgery on March 2nd. One of his vertebrates is imploding which will need to be removed, a couple of ribs need to come out, and he needs a spinal fusion. He also has a lot of neurofibromas (benign tumors) growing in his spine, that they will not be able to remove. They are hoping that they can shrink them with oral medication.
Please consider donating to help cover the medical insurance deductible and any other costs that insurance does not cover, as well as gas and food expenses. Nathanael and Jennifer, Patrick's parents, will be traveling back and forth from their home in Lancaster to AI Dupont in Delaware for many appointments and of course to be with Patrick when he is admitted for surgery. This beautiful family needs our help. They are a single-income family, and Nathanael will be missing multiple days of work throughout this time. No donation is too small! Thank you all! However, most of all, we ask you to be in prayer for this family. God is in control and we trust him to take care of Patrick and his family during this challenging time.
His family shares these details regarding the upcoming appointments on CaringBridge "We believe God is setting up the best team of doctors and nurses to best care for Patrick. We have an appointment on February 9 to see if Patrick is ready for surgery (not sure what that exactly means but that's what is scheduled for us). Also, a date of February 24, for more pre-op appointments and to discuss more details of what surgery and post-surgery will look like. For now, we know it is an average of 1-week hospital stay and a 4–6 month recovery at home with restrictions slowly lifting as time goes on."
