Patrick Torres-Kingwood FFA Gray Brahman Heifer

My name is Patrick Torres, and I am a sixteen-year-old boy from Kingwood, Texas. My goal for 2023 is to raise a Gray Brahman Heifer as I enter my sophomore school year, and second year in Future Farmers of America (FFA).

I recently participated in a calf scramble at the Houston Rodeo. During the calf scramble, I was determined to catch a calf because I have a goal, which is to raise a heifer; catching this calf was one big step closer to achieving my goal.

As I chased these calves around the stadium (which was the size of 4 football fields), I decided to gather around the slowest ones so I could catch up to one and grab its tail. When I was chasing this calf, my body wanted to give up. I wanted to give up, but I kept telling myself I will not quit because I made a goal and I’m going to push through whatever life throws at me to achieve it. I kissed the calf I caught on the head because I wanted to show my appreciation for how much I cared that I caught him and that he didn’t fight me when I was getting his halter on.

I want to raise a Gray Brahman Heifer because I love raising animals and this helps me get one step closer to learning how to raise livestock which helps me with my future goal to be a cowboy and own a ranch! My end goal is to raise a great animal and a great friend! To achieve this goal, I am asking for your help.
