Patrick Murunga's Sister Needs our Help!

Mary Murunga is Patrick's youngest sister and she is stuck in a Kenyan hospital. 

To our shock, Mary was admitted to the BELLEVUE HOSPITAL with acute pneumonia, typhoid, low blood pressure and other complications on January 27th 2022. On admittance, the hospital discovered that she needed to be put on immediate dialysis. The hospital has given her very good care and nursed her back to health. Mary was admitted to the hospital incoherent and delirious, having no appetite and unable to walk or care for herself. After roughly three months in and out of ICU, Mary is now able to walk, talk, feed herself and has a smile on her face once again!

Mary was officially discharged three months ago but isn't allowed to leave the hospital!! In Kenya, a patient must pay their bill in full to leave the hospital. Mary cannot leave because she cannot pay the bill. The hospital bill came to approximately 5.2 million Kenya shillings ($52,000). Mary does not have insurance. The family has been working hard to help Mary pay. So far, the family has contributed over $17,000. Patrick and family are trying hard to raise the balance, but it is proving very difficult. They gave me permission to reach out to friends to help with this burden. Each day Mary stays in the hospital, the bill increases by about $70 per day. The hospital has graciously agreed to pause the daily payments for 30 days.
