Patrick Mullen’s electric wheelchair
Donation protected
Patrick is a 41 year old young man married with two children. He is the sole support of his young family as his wife, Wendi, is disabled. Patrick was scheduled for a surgery to remove a tumor in his spinal cord on October 9th. He came out of the surgery with feeling and movement is all limbs. Unfortunately, within days, he suffered a pulmonary embolism, a DVT and then an epidural hematoma. After surgery to remove the hemorrhage, he lost all movement in all except his arms. He, however, has little muscle control in his hands. He has sensation in his lower extremities but cannot move them. Patrick spent five weeks in critical care and now is in rehab. The goal is for him to be discharged on December 5th. While insurance will cover a wheelchair for Patrick, it will not pay for the SEAT ELEVATION AND STANDING FEATURE that are essential to Patrick’s recovery and ability to function normally at home. Please, help us to get Patrick the features he needs on his wheelchair.
