Patrick, Kacie, and Aaron- the Weber-Wittke Family
Donation protected
Please meet our very dear friends Patrick, Kacie, and Aaron- the Weber-Wittke Family!
Patrick, at the young age of 35, was diagnosed with a very rare form of soft tissue sarcoma in 2018 when their son, Aaron, was only 5 months old. He has been battling this aggressive cancer for nearly 6 years with multiple stays in and out of the hospital.
We are seeking financial donations to assist Patrick and his family as they transition him back home after being hospitalized for months due to lasting physical challenges following his most recent surgery to remove one of the tumors. The donations will go toward medical equipment/supplies, home care services, and home- based modifications that are not covered by insurance. Patrick needs these tools to live safely in his own home! Patrick and Kacie have had tremendous support from their immediate families over the years and we are now seeking the kindness of our collective, extended communities.
A short history on Patrick’s long and arduous journey:
In 2018, given the aggressiveness of the initial cancer, Patrick had a complex, extensive surgery to remove a very large tumor followed by chemotherapy. By the summer of 2019, he was considered in remission. But sarcoma is relentless, and his disease returned in 2020 and progressed to metastatic stage 4 sarcoma. In the past three years, he has had 5 additional major surgeries to remove tumors in his upper back and spine. He has completed 7 rounds of radiation, another round of chemotherapy, and 2 years of immunotherapy. The most recent metastasis caused a spinal cord compression requiring spinal cord surgery resulting in being hospitalized for over 2 months. Patrick has had to learn to regain function of his legs and arms. He will be going home using a wheelchair and requires 24/7, 1:1 care.
Cancer required Patrick to retire in 2022 from his job as a Corrections Officer, and as a young family with a child, the costs for his complex care are certainly burdensome. Patrick is a retired military veteran who served his country in US Army from 2001-2009 including 5 years of active duty service and 2 years of reserve service. He fought on the ground in Operation Iraqi Freedom. Kacie manages it all- by being a supportive and loving wife to Patrick while working full-time and a mom to Aaron.
Please consider supporting this strong, resilient, and amazing family. We can attest that the Wittke-Weber family appreciates any and all community support and will extremely benefit from the kindness of others at this time of significant need.
