Patrick Joseph Burton was born on May 10, 1991 and tragically passed away on October 8, 2020 at age 29. He is survived by his parents Maureen and Joe, his wife Kate, his 3 siblings Katie, Jonathan, and Danielle, and his nieces, nephews, grandmothers, and many aunts, uncles and cousins that loved and remember him.
Patrick was a proud Eagle of the class of 2010 at Boston College High School and a proud American that dedicated his life to serving his country. He became a distinguished submariner with 10 years of service in the United States Navy. He served with honor, courage, and commitment. He was posted in Groton, CT and Bremerton, WA. During his several deployments he played an integral part in assuring the national security of our country and its people. In addition to his gleaming evaluations, many citations, awards, and achievement medals, in 2016 and in 2020, he was named sailor of the quarter - he was on track to achieve the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 2021.
Patrick was an exquisite person - he had the unique ability to make every acquaintance he had feel like a long time friend. He had a full life, despite his untimely departure from this earth. He is remembered as a true man for others - something he prided himself on and something that he learned through his Jesuit education at BC High. Patrick truly dedicated his life to serving others and that is the legacy we plan to carry out in his absence.
This foundation aims and the funds raised will provide other young men with a Jesuit education so that they may have the opportunity to learn to lead a life of service and gratitude as Patrick did.
We have set our fundraising goal at $25,000 to ensure that this scholarship can cover the expenses of four years of education at BC High. We have the long term goal of raising enough funds to be included in the schools endowment so that Patrick's legacy through this scholarship may continue in perpetuity for many years to come.
