Patrick Gau's Back to School Eagle Project
Hi Everyone,
My name is Patrick Gau and I am currently a Sophomore at Amador Valley High School and a Life Scout in Troop 941. Boyscouts has influenced and shaped me into the person that I am today. From the various service projects, camping trips, and leadership roles, I have learned that I can't do everything alone. Right now I am working towards my Eagle rank and am proposing the following project which would benefit underprivileged students.
Before a scout can obtain this lofty and rare achievement they need to demonstrate their leadership skills by completing a project that gives back to the community. My project idea is a “Back to School” themed donation drive. Over the different schools that I have attended, there is always a handful of students with materials in poor or unusable states. My “Back to School” donation drive aims to change some students' learning experience at school. To do this I partnered up with “The Hanger” to raise school materials to help those in need. The project’s goal is to gather donations and put together new backpacks filled with school supplies. The backpacks hold a variety of school necessities that will ultimately improve the students learning environment. Our backpacks hold pencils, erasers, highlighters, colored pencils, notebooks, safety scissors, hand sanitizer, glue stick, and reusable water bottles. Each backpack requires around $15-20 of materials and I have already raised 100 backpacks. I cannot finish this project by myself and am in need of your support. Together we can help hundreds of students receive a better education.
I have targeted August 10th, 2021 as the day that I will deliver the backpacks to the schools to then let the schools distribute the materials to the students.
Thank you for your support,
Patrick Gau
